Quality of Service

QoS (Quality of Service)

The term QoS (Quality of Service) refers to a broad collection of networking technologies and techniques that generally involve prioritization of network traffic and the capability of a network to provide better service over various technologies, including Frame Relay, Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), Ethernet and 802.1 networks, SONET, and IP-routed networks that may use any or all of these underlying technologies. A network monitoring system must typically be deployed as part of QoS, to insure that networks are performing at the desired level.
